Resend a bounced message

A bounce is a delivery Pyn could not complete: the address was wrong, the Slack account was not active yet, or the sender was in an error state. Pyn marks the delivery Bounced, turns the enrollment’s progress red and raises a notice. Once the cause is fixed, you resend.

  • Fix what caused the bounce first, or the resend bounces too. Bounce reasons include an inactive integration, a sender in error, a misconfigured sender and raw HTML email not being enabled; a wrong address is fixed in Directory, a sender in Settings.
  1. In Pyn, open Activity in the left navigation. In All Enrollments, a red Progress bar marks the enrollments with bounces; hover it to read This enrollment has bounced messages.

  2. Select the enrollment, then under Enrollment Steps select the step whose status is red with Completed with bounces.

  3. On the step page, use the recipient selector to pick the recipient whose delivery reads Bounced. The banner This message bounced when sending appears above the message.

  4. Select Resend in the banner.

A bounce raises a notice in Notices titled Delivery bounced, attached to the sender. Its Resend button opens Resend Bounced Deliveries, which counts the bounced deliveries on that notice and resends them all in one go, then archives the notice. Resend bounced deliveries from a notice walks through it.

Pyn creates a new delivery for the recipient and sends it; the original reads Bounced*. In the drawer’s delivery list the new delivery appears with its own status, and the enrollment’s progress stays red until you check the other bounces.
