Channels are where a cohort finds each other. An **Add to Channel** step invites the employee (or their manager or buddy) to a public Slack channel when they reach that step, so nobody has to remember to add them.

## Before you start

- Slack is connected and **Add to Channel** is enabled for your workspace. If the row is greyed in the **Add Step** dialog, contact Pyn support.
- The sender you will choose is a member of the channel, since the invitation is issued by that sender.

## Steps

1. In Pyn, open **Flows** in the left navigation, select **Automations**, then the automation.

2. Select **Add a step**, then **Add to Channel** under **Tasks & Activities**.

3. Under **Schedule**, choose the day and time relative to the reference date.

4. Under **From**, choose **Pyn Bot** or a personal Slack sender.

5. Under **To**, choose who is added: **Employee**, **Buddy**, **HRBP**, **Manager** or **Skip-level Manager**.

6. Under **Channel**, pick the channel from the list of channels the sender can see.

7. Next to **Test by adding yourself to a channel:**, select **Test**. Pyn adds you to the chosen channel and shows **Test message sent**.

8. Select **Publish** on the automation.

> **Note:** As with a channel post, changing the sender clears the channel: a sender in another Slack workspace cannot see it. Pick the channel again before publishing.

## What you should see

The step card shows the channel. When an employee reaches it, they appear in the channel's member list and the delivery under [Enrollments](https://support.pynhq.com/activity/enrollments/) reads **Add** followed by their name and **to channel**. Reminders are not offered on this step.
